I was right on with that one! She plays with her dogs and cats every day, taking time to feed them and give them attention, dressing them up in costumes and playing with different toys. She learned very quickly that no two pets have the same personality and I’m amazed at how much she has learned about responsibility from playing this game. She had a dog that actually ran away because she neglected him and she learned a big lesson from that. An excellent precursor to owning a pet for real, especially for a youngster who loves animals.

She’s so proud that she got an award from the “adoption center” saying she’s a good pet owner and now she has puppies from a mated pair of dogs that she adopted. It’s not an overly exciting game, but there is so much to do and it’s never the same thing twice.

I highly reccomend this game for anyone with kids who want a pet or even if they just like animals. I loved this game as a kid, and with a recent stroke of nostalgia and no luck finding my old CDs or with downloads, I just bought the game again.

Everything was perfect once I ran it in compatibility mode; I didn’t even have to change my resolution, and I have a widescreen laptop with Windows 7. I got the French version? The kids love it. They have been on the computer every day since Christmas and I have even had to set a limit on the time they spend playing with these virtual animals or they would play with them endlessly.

The 9 year old understands it better and is able to play it the way it is intended to be played, but the 3. It is a simplistic game, but the animals are cute. If you don’t regularly care for them, they run away.

Again, nothing challenging, but both of my daughters enjoy this game a lot. I’m very happy with this one. The disc had maybe a few scratches, but nothing that prevented me from installing it. That’s what was most important. The disc came with the original case, box art, and even the booklet. I was ecstatic when I found out that I can run this version of the game without the disc in the optical drive.

Then you’re in for a treat. The Petz series of games has been around for many moons, but they retain their old-school charm and endearing gameplay to this day. It’s fun for the first day or so, but eventually they start to really grate on your nerves. The pets get jealous when you scritch another pet and will attack one another, they steal each other’s food even when you have multiple bowls out , and will sometimes hiss or bark and growl at the cursor granted, I had just given them a bath, but come on!

Parents: if your kid wants a pet, get them this software. It will either change theirs minds, or enchant them! I loved it when I was a little girl, and it’s amusing for a while. The long-term value is minimal, but I still somehow find myself wanting to play it a few times a year.
