By default, when you press the Enter key Word moves the insertion point down a little farther than one line on the page. This automatically creates space between paragraphs. Just as you can format spacing between lines in your document, you can adjust spacing before and after paragraphs.

This is useful for separating paragraphs, headings, and subheadings. In our example, we’ll increase the space before a paragraph to separate it from a heading.

Adjust indents and spacing

The default line spacing in Word is 1. By miceosoft, paragraphs are followed by a blank line and headings have a space above them. Under Spacingchoose an option in the Line spacing box. Adjust the Before and After settings if you want to change spacing between paragraphs.

You can change the line spacingbut the next time you create a new document, Word for the channge reverts back to 1. Select Set as Default. Choose All documents based on the Normal template.
