I’ve just spent the last hour trying to access my desktop PC accounts because Intuit “software registration” program is so buggy that it won’t work.

I can’t say I dislike a company more than Intuit. My accountants still prefer QB, so that’s what I use for my business. They and I also prefer the Desktop version of the product: the whole “software as an annuity” business model leaves me cold. As for the version of Desktop Pro: 17 years in, it was the fastest and easiest install of QB ever — and that was done using the disc. I tried the URL noted on the box, but it took me to a marketing page, and I wasn’t going to hunt for the download link.

After completing the install, importing the company file, and finishing a few minor bits of housekeeping, everything was running just fine under Windows Next, I ran the update routine manually: it downloaded 1.
